Fall Garden Party at Waterwise Botanicals

[dropcap style=”book”]T[/dropcap]he Fall Garden Party at Waterwise Botanicals was a huge success!  Hundreds of succulent enthusiasts enjoyed perfect weather, inspiring and informative talks and the opportunity to purchase Jeff Moore’s fabulous new book, Under the Spell of Succulents. Our own Laura Eubanks was front and center under the Big Tent delighting the crowd with her Succulent Tapestry demonstration!

After walking the nursery and choosing her favorite specimens, she assembled a signature tapestry live and on stage while giving design tips, care instructions and advice for handling the various plants in her palate. At the end of the presentation, nursery owner, Tom Jesch, announced that one lucky winner could win her Succulent Tapestry Garden display in a raffle, sponsored by the nursery, in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information!

Finally, as promised, we are including a list of the plants used in this demonstration, as well as a few important pieces of information on acquiring and using rocks in your tapestries. See just below the photo gallery for the information on rocks. For now, enjoy the plant list and ensuing photos!

The rock yards that we use most are KRC RockSouthwest Boulder & Stone, and Bedrock Boulders & Landscape Products. All are located in San Diego County and have detailed information on their websites (accessible by clicking the company’s name in the previous sentence). Don’t hesitate to take a trip out to the rock yards, ask a ton of questions and take home some sample rocks to see how they match up with your landscape!

Bay Ho, San Diego Tapestry Project

Hey gang, we just wanted to keep you up to date on the Bay Ho project. It came out fantastic and our client couldn’t be happier with the results!

If your wondering how we did it, well we first whitewashed the existing brick retaining wall to give a softer, more organic look.

We then converted existing spray irrigation to subterranean drip which is more efficient.

Then, two yards of topsoil were added to create gentle hills and valley’s though out the design.

Boulder placement was next with plant groupings to follow.

The water now goes exactly where we want it with no more evaporation or runoff.

Then a flagstone pathway was woven though the installation.

TIP: Before doing any planting, it is best to stage all your plants to

make sure your plant placement looks right and balanced for

your design.

The finishing touches included the introduction of ten different types of rocks and pebbles.
